Raising awareness of general public to the expertise and skill of textile workers and bring their art above "nanna status" by giving artists a place to sell their goods.
Promoting the wool industry, textiles workers get to come together to meet and be inspired. Knitting lounges around the town.
Beanies and handspun wool for sale.
The Beanie Affair is a three day event raising awareness and showcasing the expertise of local textile artists. The affair also provides an opportunity to meet fellow artisans, be inspired, learn new skills and exhibit and sell textile crafts. With the exception of workshops, all events and knitting lounges are free entry. The venues is in walking distance from the train station.
There is an open invitation to the public to enter wares into any of the categories for exhibition and sale. This is a fundriasing event for Castlemaine CWA but all artists will retain 75% of all sales.
The main venue (Beanie Central), will house the categories of Handmade Beanies $20 - $100 & Handspun Yarn $20 - $100. CWA handcrafts and merchandise will also be on sale. This venue will also have a workshop/knitting lounge. Masterclass Beanies $200 upwards. There will also be a knitting lounge/workshop at this venue.
The knitting lounges will all be free & open to the public to just drop in & learn skills from beginner to advanced. or just have a coffee, chat & knit.
